There’s goodness out there…

Sometimes in life,
you come across people you never wanna lose,
even the thought of losing them might distress you so much.
But this isn’t about them.

There are these rare species you discover once in a bluemoon,
those you can never lose however hard you try.
You can try to push them away, avoid them,
ghost them for months on end, and they’ll still be
waiting with open hands when you return,
not allowing you to even apologise.

They convince you that you can never lose them,
not even by death
(Yea, “I’ll come back and haunt you” kinda love 😝).

I’ve a bunch of these gems,
and the best part about them, for me,
is that I’m not this special friend that they
make special excuses for.
They do this for everyone in their life.

It isn’t my beauty, talent or skill that keeps their hearts open;
it’s their goodness, and it is indeed freeing to know that,
with them, you don’t have to prove yourself worthy of the love.
They simply believe that you deserve to be loved,
and give you more respect than you’ve ever given yourself.

What’s more precious than learning to accept and love us as we are?
